A 600kg male polar bear walks straight toward us, following our scent with a confident stride. The bear tracked us all the way to the edge of the pack ice, nearly too close for comfort to our zodiac. There’s something extremely humbling about being eye-level, face-to-face, and locking eyes with the Arctic’s top predator while it attempts to hunt you.
