A family of Asiatic elephants disappears into the misty forests of Sri Lanka’s Udawalawe National Park. The monsoon rains hit suddenly, drenching us within seconds in our open-sided vehicle. I had my camera bundled in a ball of clothing—torn between protecting it and capturing a moment I thought was pretty cool. Soaked, grinning, and slightly panicked, I fired off a few frames as the herd faded into the rain.
